tragedy
7/11. many people died today just coming home from a long day of work. i’m not a praying man, but am finding it hard to move beyond paying mental and emotional respects to the recently deceased. i was just thinking that if i had been in one of those exploding first class passenger cars, i’d be gone too, in the blink of an eye, no time to say sweet goodbyes to friends and family. this realization makes me weak in the knees, unable to deal with the random nature of today’s tragedy. dennis was in one of those cars just last week. to the mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, children, siblings who are experiencing the overwhelming pain of unanticipated loss tonight, my deepest and sincerest condolences.

Ellison,
How is it going my friend? Have not seen an entry on your sight since the tragic events of 7/11. Hope you, Kristen and all around you are safe and doing well.
I have been paying close attention to your words and your work and find both enlightening and inspiring. Wondering if it is cool with you if I start sharing some of your stories and thoughts with the crew back at the SDWP. I am thinking a little weekly lesson in global culture and social justice from Mumbai might be just what they need.
Anyway, keep speaking for those on the lower frequencies and for those who remain invisible.
We miss you man.

P.S. Have you read The End of Poverty by Jeffrey Sachs? It is so you. If not, drop me a line if you have a mailing address and I will send you a copy.
